Rapid7 Labs and MDR team discovered a sophisticated campaign by Chinese APT group Lotus Blossom targeting organizations in Southeast Asia and Central America, using a custom backdoor called Chrysalis.

Securelist telemetry revealed unique execution chains in a supply chain attack on Notepad++. Attackers rotated C2 server addresses over four months, targeting individuals and organizations in various countries, but Kaspersky solutions were able to block the attacks.

In April 2024, researchers found compromised sites leading to an iframe on pley[.]es showing an error message. The payload domain was taken offline, preventing infection. Later, the iframe was replaced with the ClearFake inject.
