Welcome to the weekly threat detection update report from Stamus Networks. Each week, you will receive this email with a summary of the updates.
Current Stamus Threat Intelligence (STI) release version: 1372
This week, in addition to daily ruleset and IOC updates, we provided Stamus Security Platform customers with the following improved defense(s):
Note: a "method" as referenced below, is a discrete detection vector for a given threat.
The following detections were added to your Clear NDR this past week:
Sophisticated adversary uses cyber, physical, and deception tactics to gain access to systems, exfiltrate data, disrupt operations, and maintain persistence over an extended period despite defenders' efforts to resist.
Advanced botnet infrastructure created with C++ for victim-side and web languages for attacker-side, allowing seamless communication between infected machines and command server.
MonsterV2 is a multifunctional malware that steals various data such as browser info and cryptocurrency credentials, and also acts as a loader for other malware variants like StealC and Rhadamanthys.

The following detections were updated this past week with changes to kill chain phase(s) or MITRE ATT&CK tactic(s)/technique(s):
In April 2024, researchers found compromised sites leading to an iframe on pley[.]es showing an error message. The payload domain was taken offline, preventing infection. Later, the iframe was replaced with the ClearFake inject.
Adversaries may use custom command and control protocols to communicate, mimicking or developing protocols on top of standard network stacks, instead of using existing Standard Application Layer Protocols.
Expiro is a polymorphic file infector that inserts unique viral code into each infected file while maintaining the same malicious function. It can inject code into web pages and steal login credentials.
Attackers infect enterprise networks with malware by promoting fake browser updates on hacked websites, leading to the installation of banking trojans and later ransomware encryption on compromised networks.
Interlock ransomware, discovered in 2024, engages in Big Game Hunting and double extortion but doesn't operate as a Ransomware-as-a-Service group. Data Leak Site "Worldwide Secrets Blog" negotiates ransom prices with victims.
JanelaRAT is a threat that uses various tactics like DLL side-loading and a multi-stage attack, targeting Latin American fintech companies.
Cyber criminals exploited the TDS platform Keitaro to redirect users to malware exploit kits RIG and Fallout, infecting them with malicious software. Legitimate TDS platforms are used for targeted advertising.
Fake update variants like SocGholish, Clear Fake, Smart Ape, and ClickFix are being tracked by a collaboration introducing the LandUpdate808 Fake Update Variant.
Lumma is a C-based information stealer sold on Russian underground forums and Telegram by LummaC since August 2022. It targets cryptocurrency wallets and has file grabber capabilities.
Remote Access Trojans allow covert surveillance and unauthorized access to victim PCs, collecting keystrokes, passwords, screenshots, and more. They differ from keyloggers by providing remote access capabilities to attackers.
Remote Access Trojans allow covert surveillance and unauthorized access to victim PCs, collecting data like keystrokes and screenshots. They differ from keyloggers by enabling remote access for attackers.
Malwarebytes found a new social engineering toolkit that uses compromised websites to perform advanced fingerprinting checks and deliver the NetSupport RAT payload.
SvcStealer 2025 is an information stealer malware spread through spear phishing emails. It collects sensitive data like machine information, user credentials, and cryptocurrency wallets, sending it to a command-and-control server.
The following threat detection(s) were improved this past week with new or updated threat methods.
