Reflections on Black Hat USA 2022

Last week Stamus Networks participated in BlackHat USA 2022, an international cybersecurity conference focused on the latest research, developments, and trends in the industry. In this blog post we share some of our experiences and insights from the show.

At this year’s event, we sent a delegation consisting of Eric Leblond, Mark Durrett, Ed Mohr, Charlie Provenza, Phil Owens and me to staff the booth and meet customers, partners, prospects, members of the media and analysts. We also had a remote team welcoming guests to  our online booth during Black Hat’s virtual conference.

One of the highlights this year was a presentation given by our Director of Systems Engineering, Phil Owens. In Phil’s on-demand talk, he explains how the Stamus Security Platform aids security teams in detecting lateral movement in the network, often identifying the location of attacks before critical assets are compromised. If you missed that presentation, you can watch the video below.

On the final day of the event our team reflected on the week’s activities, fellow exhibitors and some of the conversations we had. We captured a few images along with the comments from our team in this 5 minute video. If you happened to attend the event, we hope this agrees with your experiences. And if you missed Black Hat this year, hopefully this will give you a small taste of what took place.

As you can sense from the team’s reflections, we were thrilled to see that Black Hat “is back”, and very excited to attend the in-person event. There’s no substitute for experiencing the energy and innovation that our exciting industry delivers and interacting with attendees face-to-face. And we were equally glad to engage with the hundreds of people from around the globe who participated in the virtual event. We hope to see you again next year.

And we hope to meet you at our next event - Suricon 2022 in Athens.
